URI Hillel Scholarships and Awards


The Lawrence Hopfenberg Memorial Scholarship is awarded each spring to the first-year student (freshman) who made the greatest impact on Jewish life on campus. The recipient of the 2009-2010 Lawrence Hopfenberg Scholarship is Jacob Harris.

The Pepi Silverstein Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student or students to attend a Hillel Leadership Conference. The Silverstein Scholars are chosen for their energy and commitment to the Hillel at URI and leadership potential as a member of the Jewish Community. The 2009-2010 Pepi Silverstein Scholar is Jessica Carrado.

The Plantations Unit 5339 B'nai B'rith Award is given annually to the student who has made the greatest contribution to URI Hillel in that academic year. The recipient of the 2009-2010 Plantations Unit 5339 B’nai B’rith Award is Jacob Holzman.

Scholarships and awards are given at the discretion of the Hillel staff and board.
